Hello Samsonites, some big news.

I can now announce the latest 5CD SAMSON box-set from HNE/Cherry Red. 

Release date 26th July, available for pre-order now.

Remastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham, includes 1 disc of material not previously available on cd.

Disc 1 - "Survivors", plus Mr. Rock & Roll/Primrose Shuffle single, plus 7 tracks with Bruce Dickinson vocal.

Disc 2 - "Head On", plus "Angel With A Machine Gun" (b-side), "Kingsway Jam" and "Vice Versa" (single version, not previously available on CD).

Disc 3 - "Head On" (Tony Platt mix) plus "Hard Times" (7" single mix). This is the "A2/B2" version of "Head On", never previously available on CD.

Disc 4 - "Shock Tactics", plus "Little Big Man" (b-side) and "Losing My Grip/Pyramid To The Stars" (unreleased single).

Disc 5 - "Live At Reading '81", plus "Red Skies", "Turn Out The Lights" and "Firing Line" (2 track rehearsal recordings).

The discs come in a clamshell box with replica sleeves and a poster insert including previously unseen pictures from the Rob Grain/Paul Samson Archive and extensive sleevenotes by renowned NWOBHM authority John Tucker.

Cherry Red Records is reissuing two classic SAMSON albums from 1990 and 2002, as well as a previously unreleased 1989 album titled Look To The Future – The Ignition Sessions.

So we’re getting the remastered work of the SAMSON line-ups featuring Peter Scallan (vocals), Dave Boyce (bass), Charlie Mack (drums), Toby Sadler (keyboards), Nicky Moore (vocals), Ian Ellis (bass), John McCoy (bass), Billy Fleming (drums).

As always, thanks to Mr. ROB GRAIN for his outstanding and relentless activity upon the glorious SAMSON legacy and extensive archive. Rob, you’re the keeper of the flame.

 

The 3 CDs are:

 

Look To The Future + 2 bonus tracks - featuring Mick White at vocals

Refugee + 4 live recordings from BBC Radio 1’s “Friday Rock Show”

P.S.... (recorded in 2002 and issued in 2006 as a Paul Samson solo record; now remastered)

It includes:

 

1- Live album from SAMSON recorded in the Eighties. The line-up featuring Nicky Moore, Paul Samson, Dave "Bucket" Colwell, Mervyn "Merv" Goldsworthy and Pete Jupp. Once Samson disbanded in May 1984, Goldsworthy and Jupp then formed FM.

 

2- Live album + studio recordings of PAUL SAMSON's EMPIRE. One of the three SAMSON spin-off bands. As we already know, EMPIRE disbanded in 1987 and Paul formed a new version of SAMSON.

 

3- Live album of 2000's SAMSON reunion line-up: Nicky Moore, Paul Samson, Chris Aylmer, Thunderstick.

 

4- A collection of live recordings from various ventures, including the brief SAMSON 1992-1994 line-up reunion which happened in February 1997: Paul Samson, Chris Aylmer, Tony Tuohy.

Here we go. My interview with Peter Scallan is finally online. As you already know, Peter has been the lead singer of SAMSON in 1989/1990, when he recorded the SAMSON album REFUGEE (1990).
